RULES & POLICIES

Please Note:  Wahoo Parks and Recreation has a Facility Conduct Policy that governs conduct at all Parks and Recreation facilities including the Aquatic Center.  Please be aware that misconduct at the Aquatic Center may result in suspension of usage privileges at not only the WAC but other P&R facilities including the Civic Center and parks.  Click here to review the policy.

 

GENERAL RULES & POLICIES

  • Children must be 8 years old to gain admission to the aquatic center without an accompanying chaperon (15 & older).
  • Patrons must take a shower using soap before entering the pool.
  • No person having an obvious communicable disease, skin eruption, open sore, lesion, eye, ear, nose, or throat infection shall be permitted to use the pool.
  • Tobacco products, vaping, alcoholic beverages, and glass are prohibited.  All food and drink must be consumed outside the aquatic center, in the lobby, or inside the designated picnic area south of the bathhouse.
  • Coolers, food, and beverages may not be brought into the facility.
  • Profanity and abusive or vulgar language is prohibited.
  • Fighting, rough play, pushing/shoving, and running are prohibited.
  • No spitting or spouting of water or blowing nose in water.
  • Proper swim wear is required.  Street clothes (ex. jeans, cargo shorts, underwear, non-swim diapers, etc.) are not permitted in the water.
  • Infants or toddlers wearing diapers will not be allowed entrance into the facility without plastic diaper covers or swim diapers.
  • No hanging on safety ropes or buoys.
  • No sitting, playing on, or diving off ladders.
  • No pets or animals allowed (other than service animals).
  • No diving in less than 5 feet of water.
  • Floatation devices (inner tubes, air mattresses, water wings, noodles, etc.) are prohibited unless they are U.S. Coast Guard or Red Cross approved life jackets.  Soft toys and play items are permitted if they are used appropriately.
  • Any conduct, behavior, or activity that endangers the welfare, safety, and/or comfort of other patrons is prohibited.
  • Management reserves the right to close the aquatic center due to inclement weather or lack of attendance.
  • The City of Wahoo is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal items.
  • Taking photos or recording videos without pool management authorization is prohibited.

DIVING BOARDS

Note: At staff discretion, youth swimmers may be asked to perform a ‘swim test’ in order to demonstrate their swimming skill proficiency as a prerequisite for use of the diving boards.

  • Only one person on the ladder or board at a time.  Swimmers must wait on the deck at the ladder entrance.
  • Only one bounce permitted on the board.  Running jumps and starts are not permitted.
  • Divers must wait for the person ahead of them to reach the pool ladder prior to diving off the board.
  • Dive straight off the end of the board.  No jumps or dives are allowed off to side of the board.
  • No handstands, cartwheels, or sitting on the board.
  • Divers should swim to the nearest side of pool after the dive.
  • No swimming under or between the boards.
  • Divers may not wear goggles when using the 3m (high) diving board.
  • Divers may not wear life jackets or floatation devices.
  • Individuals are not allowed in the diving well to “catch” other divers.

ZERO DEPTH & WATER PLAYGROUND

  • Children 4 & under must be within arm’s reach of the supervising chaperon.  If the child is in the water the chaperon must also be in the water.
  • Only children ages 10 & under may play on the deck of the water playground feature.
  • No diving or jumping from play feature deck, stairs, or railing.

SLIDE

  • Riders must be 48” tall to ride the slide.
  • Slide must be ridden feet first, lying on your back.  No riding head first or on stomach.
  • No jewelry can be worn.
  • No tubes, mats, or life jackets are permitted on the slide.
  • Pregnant women or individuals with heart or back conditions should not use the slide.
  • One person will be allowed on the slide at a time.  Trains or chains of riders are not permitted.
  • Wait for the attendant’s permission before starting down the slide.
  • Do not stand, kneel, rotate, or stop in the tube.
  • Slide pool depth is 4'.  Riders should be able to swim and promptly exit the slide pool without assistance.
  • All instructions of the slide attendant must be followed.

WATER WALK

  • Users should attempt to move across the water walk by stepping on the floatables.  Prolonged standing on a floatable is not permitted.
  • Swimming under the floatables is not permitted.
  • Remain clear of the anchor chains at all times.
  • Pushing others off the floatables is not permitted.
  • Climbing on top of the cargo net is not permitted.
